Poet Derek Walcott Passes At 87

The poet Derek Walcott was a very profound influence on creating a “post-colonial” expression for both the prospects of freedom of expression in the future and the drag of the oppressive colonial mindset of the subjects being ruled over. A tough balancing but he was able to convey both strains in his work (and not just in poetry but plays and paintings as well).
